Making a general group under the group management tab is not essential but highly recommended since it enables you to stagger your updates to your customer group.
A general group can be used to test app updates and roll a new app update out to a small group instead of pushing a new update to all your merchants immediately. Klearly recommends having a small group of merchants who proactively communicate with you when something is not working, in the general group (“golden circle merchants”).
This first chapter will explain how to create a general group.
- Go to Secure Retail and select 'Group Management' and go to the 'General Group' tab.
- Click the green '+' button at the top of the page next to Group list and select 'Add General Group'.
Fill in the needed information with the *
(Note: each general and dynamic group is only applicable to one specific type of hardware.) In this example, we use the PAX A35. Groups should be duplicated for every hardware type you are using PAX A920 PRO, PAX A77, etc.)
- Fill in the correct information following the picture above (create your own group name).
- Now click on 'Activate group' click on 'OK' after and now you have an (empty) general group.
Now we will need to add apps, RKI and a launcher to this group. Do this with the following steps:
a. Select the general group you just created and go to 'Push Task'.
b. Press the green '+ APP' button on the right and add the Rapyd Core, Klearly, ordering register, and Air Viewer app by selecting them and pressing OK.
- You should have the following screen:
Important Step: Now click on the Rapyd core app and scroll all the way down. And only select 'Only Push App'. This makes sure when you update the Rapyd Core app, the configurations won't change.
- When you get the pop-up, Skip the parameter configuration,' press 'OK'.
Now activate the app by pressing ‘activate’ on the bottom right. Do not change any push configurations.
Now you can see that the Rapyd core app has been activated with 0% success, since there are no terminals connected to this test account. The rest of the apps are still pending (Klearly, cash register, air viewer). This means that if you turn on a device, only the Rapyd core app will push onto the device. To automatically download the Klearly, cash register, and air viewer apps, you first need to activate them. Do this by following the next steps:
- Click on the Partner App (your cash register app) and click on activate in the bottom right of the screen. Then activate the push task. This needs to be done for every app that you add to your group (so, in addition to the partner app, also activate Klearly and AirLauncher; this is done in the same way). After activating all the apps, your screen should look like the picture below:
- As you can see, the apps show a 0% success rate. This is because there are no terminals connected to this group. If there was a terminal connected to this account, the percentage should go to 100% after all the downloads are complete.
- Now go to the ‘RKI tab’ and click on the green ‘+ RKI’ button.
Now add the RKI app by pressing the green hamburger menu on the right side and selecting the app. Press ‘OK’.
Important! Without a correct RKI push, payments do not work.
- Now go to the tab 'Launcher' and press the green button '+Launcher'.
- Select your launcher and add it.
A custom launcher with PAX is a software interface designed to simplify and enhance the way users access and manage their applications and tools. This launcher includes the apps that are shown on the device and the custom background (without a launcher, the PAX will be cluttered with different apps you do not want the merchant to see/enter). You have now correctly set up a general group.
Note: If you have multiple hardware devices, then you will need to create multiple group management.
- Now try to add a test terminal by going to the tab 'Terminal List' and pressing the green '+ Terminal' button and adding your terminal.
