For the cloud to app functionality, you don’t need to add and push your app on the PAX store, solely the Klearly app and the Rapyd Core app.
Introduction:
It is important to update the app for the merchants when a new update has been released. To update terminals, it is the easiest way to update the group. But there are different kinds of groups that can be updated. Which you can find in the PAX portal. Once you select the Group Management function in the left menu, the following view will show:
In the top left of this view, you see 2 types of groups to start with: the general group, which can be used to test app updates and roll a new app update out to a small group instead of pushing a new update to all your merchants immediately. Klearly recommends having a small group of merchants who proactively communicate with you when something is not working in the general group (“golden circle merchants”).
In contrast to a general group, a dynamic group pushes apps automatically to all the hardware in your Pax portal. There is no need to add a specific terminal to a dynamic group. Based on the hardware type of a dynamic group, the apps are automatically pushed to that specific hardware model (A35, A920PRO, A77). Please be aware that changing settings in a dynamic group affects your whole estate. Be cautious with changing settings in this group.
Updating the Klearly app within group management
In this example, we want to update the Klearly app and Rapyd Core app on all our devices to the latest version.
- As illustrated by the picture below, the Klearly app is on version 1.21.6-Lite-Rapyd.
- Klearly has just released their newer version of the Klearly app, which we would like to push on all our devices.
- To add the newer Klearly version, we first need to delete the old Klearly push app (this does not delete the app from all the devices, just from the group management).
- Do this by clicking the Klearly app and then selecting the orange bin and delete the push task.
- Deleting the Klearly push task should result in the following screen:
- Now we just want to add the newest Klearly app by clicking the green “+ APP” button and selecting the right Klearly app. Make sure you select the correct version. See screen below:
- Important to click activate to start the new download push of the new Klearly app version, see:
- Once this is activated, the newest Klearly app will be pushed on all the devices in the terminal list, and for future setups of devices, the newest Klearly app will also be pushed.
Updating the Rapyd Core app within group management
- As you can see in the picture below, the Rapyd Core app is on version 1.3.5.
- Rapyd has just released their newer version of the Rapyd Core app which we want to push on all our devices.
- To add the newer Rapyd Core version, we first need to delete the old Rapyd Core push app (this does not delete the app from all the devices, just from group management).
- Do this by clicking the Rapyd Core app and then selecting the orange bin and delete the push task.
- Deleting the Rapyd Core push task should result in the following screen:
Now we just want to add the newest Rapyd Core app by clicking the green “+ APP” button and selecting the right Rapyd Core app. Make sure you select the correct version communicated by e-mail. See screen below:
- Important to click ONLY PUSH APP when you scroll down, see:
- It's important to click activate to start the new download push of the new Rapyd Core app version, see:
- Also, note that we suggest doing updates early in the morning since most clients are not using their terminals actively at that time, and updating this Rapyd Core app will restart the entire device.
- Now you know how to update a large number of merchants!
